Overview
Du Lịch Việt (VietExplore) is a community platform for discovering and sharing Vietnamese travel destinations with an integrated AI Trip Planner. It serves travelers looking for places by region and interest, contributors adding new content, and moderation teams that need a clear workflow. Users explore thousands of destinations, submit new ones through a professional moderation system, and build personalized itineraries by time, budget and party size.
Architecture & Technical Decisions
The frontend is Next.js 15 App Router with TypeScript, TailwindCSS, Radix UI, TipTap and Recharts; SSR and compound URLs serve SEO. The backend adopts Firebase as a BaaS: Authentication (email + Google OAuth), Firestore, Storage for images/video, Realtime Database for live notifications, and Cloud Functions for serverless compute — a managed-first choice that avoids running dedicated servers. The AI Trip Planner uses Google Genkit with Vertex AI and exports itineraries to PDF/Excel. The most notable architectural element is the four-state content moderation state machine: pending → claimed → in_review → approved/rejected/needs_revision, with a priority queue (Partner > Contributor > Traveler), a two-hour claim timeout, 30-day auto-archive and 30-day rollback. Six role tiers (Guest to Admin) carry trust labels, and an analytics dashboard tracks moderator performance and SLA compliance.
